Outcomes before media
Mobile performance marketing buys and optimizes media against a measurable outcome. The outcome is defined first — an install, a registration, a purchase, a subscription — and the media plan is then built to produce it.
This inverts the traditional sequence. Rather than buying reach and reporting whatever happened, the campaign is constructed around a target cost per action and evaluated continuously against it.
The optimization loop
Performance campaigns operate in cycles: launch a controlled test, collect signals, interpret them, reallocate budget, repeat. The speed and discipline of that loop tends to matter more than any single targeting decision.
Discipline means waiting for meaningful delivery before acting, changing one variable at a time where possible, and separating genuine performance movement from normal variance.
What it does not mean
Performance marketing is not the absence of brand consideration or creative quality. On mobile, creative is frequently the largest lever available, and messaging clarity directly affects conversion rate.
